Site launch

This site about the exchange history of the Netherlands is launched at a festive event at Beursplein 5. This website is an initiative of Stichting Capital Amsterdam.

The site’s aim is to introduce a broad audience to the rich, more than 400-year old exchange tradition of the Netherlands. The underlying idea is that knowledge of this history can contribute to a better understanding of the importance of a well-functioning public capital market in the Netherlands in the present and the future.

Because history is not static, we will closely track market news in this rubric, adding news items and linking them to events from the past with the aim of creating a ‘living’ exchange history.
