Adapting Corporate Governance Code

Six years after the last revision, a new version of the Corporate Governance Code is published today. This time, the additions mainly pertain to sustainability aspects. In particular, they address the social responsibility of the corporate world for people and the environment.

According to monitoring committee chair Pauline van der Meer Mohr, the creation of the new code has been an uphill struggle. The end result is the ‘highest achievable compromise’. Investors and unions had wanted to go a bit further, it has been said, but top business leaders in particular are said to have been reluctant.
